Welcome to the Myungsung Medical College (MMC) and the Myungsung Christian Medical Center (MCM) Hospital, known as Korean Hospital, which has been recently promoted a Comprehensive Specialized Hospital. I am proud of all of the students and parents who have joined the MMC/MCM family.
MMC is a private Christian medical college dedicated to educating Ethiopia’s future doctors. Our mission is to prepare medical students to be competent, compassionate, servant-leader-minded doctors who are fully prepared to treat patients. Since its inception in 2012, MMC has become a prominent and established medical school in Ethiopia with a recent 100% passing rate of the national medical license exam and the highest matching rate for post-graduate programs.
Recently, Myungsung Presbyterian Church announced the second phase of its multi-stage plan for MMC/MCM, which is to provide premier medical services and education in Ethiopia as well as throughout all of Africa: The Agape Vision Center (AVC) will bring together the MMC medical school and MCM Hospital to serve as a center for medical education, research, and service. Second, the Eunpa Primary Care Center (EPCC) will serve to 1) provide medical care for up to 200 patients per day for the poor with a minimum cost and 2) educate medical trainees under the supervision and direction of board-certified doctors from United States and S. Korea.
We have three strategies in place to ensure medical knowledge and skills current compared to those of developed nations: 1) send our graduates abroad to obtain Ph.D. degrees, 2) send our faculty members abroad to upgrade clinical research and skills, and 3) invite doctors to teach and train students, interns, and residents.
